Recipe

In life, some bites taste mediocre. And some bites taste mouthwateringly delicious. We prefer the latter, especially when those bites are are air-fried.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. Louisiana Fish Fry Products Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 (5-oz.) package Louisiana Fish Fry Garlic & Herb Air Fryer Seasoned Coating Mix
  • 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 lb. elbow macaroni or other short pasta
  • 2 eggs

    PREPARATION

Melt butter in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Add Cajun seasoning and flour, then whisk briskly to cook flour, about 2 minutes. Pour in milk, whisking continuously, until sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 2 – 3 minutes. Stir in cheese until smooth.

Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain water and add pasta to cheese sauce. Transfer mixture to a casserole dish and bake at 350° F for 30 minutes, or until mac & cheese is bubbly. Allow to cool completely. Whisk eggs in a shallow bowl and place Seasoned Coating Mix in another shallow bowl. With a small scoop, spoon out about 2 tablespoons macaroni and cheese and shape into 2”-round balls. Dip mac & cheese balls into eggs then roll to coat in seasoned coating mix. Preheat air fryer to 360° F. Spray mac & cheese bites with cooking spray and fry for 10 – 12 minutes, working in batches so that they do not touch one another.

Note: Mac & Cheese can be made a day ahead and refrigerated, or this recipe can be made with leftover mac & cheese.
