Ingredients
- 1 (5 oz) box Louisiana Fish Fry Products Air Fryer Seasoned Coating Mix for Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup plus 1 Tbsp. hot wing sauce, divided
- cooking spray
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
For sandwich
- 4 soft hamburger buns
- shredded iceberg lettuce
- dill pickle slices
PREPARATION
Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Set up dredging station with two shallow containers. In first container, whisk together buttermilk, eggs and 1 tablespoon hot sauce. Fill second container with seasoned coating mix. Working one at a time, submerge chicken thighs in buttermilk mixture, then transfer to container with coating mix. Press chicken thighs down into coating mix to ensure full and even coverage. Spray both sides of chicken thighs with cooking spray and arrange in single layer in air fryer basket. Cook 14-16 minutes at 400°F until coating is crispy and chicken is cooked through. While chicken cooks, combine remaining hot sauce with brown sugar, black pepper and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat, whisking until sugar dissolves and mixture is heated through. Remove chicken from air fryer and coat with hot sauce mixture. To assemble sandwiches, layer iceberg lettuce on bottom bun and top with fried chicken. Layer 2-3 pickle slices on chicken and top with bun.
