Skip the drive-thru and make gameday a little extra rowdy with crunchy Chicken Wings bursting with heat and flavor, at home! And, it’s fail-proof! No deep fryers needed: follow along the video below for step-by-step pan frying instructions.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1 package At Home Spicy Chicken Wings Seasoned Coating Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ lb. package of chicken wings (drums and flats)
  • Neutral vegetable oil, for pan frying

    PREPARATION

    Prepare

    • In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of water and entire package of dry mix to create a crumbly texture.
    • In another bowl, beat 1 egg.
    • For even cooking, separate drums and flats
    • Pat chicken wings dry.

    Heat

    • Fill skillet halfway with oil and place over medium-high heat to reach 350° F. Oil is ready to use when a pinch of breading dropped in the oil sizzles without burning.

    Fry

    • Dip wings in egg wash and then the dry crumble mix, pressing to coat fully.
    • Add chicken to hot oil and cook each side for 4-5 minutes, until golden brown.
    • Remove from pan when juices run clear and internal temperature reaches 165° F.
    • Enjoy!

    PRO TIPS

    Even Cooking

    For fried foods, smaller pieces have more surface area and therefore more space to get crispy. Halve catfish lengthwise and chicken breasts crosswise. Medium-large shrimp (31/40 count) work well. Use equal-sized pieces to ensure everything cooks evenly.

    Fully Flavored Chicken

    For deeply flavored chicken, use a salt-and-buttermilk brine (preferred ratios vary). Soak for at least 8 hours and up to 24; rinse off the brine at the end. For a quicker brine, use 2 quarts of water with ½ cup each of salt and sugar – but don’t let it sit more than an hour or it will get very salty!
