Louisiana Fish Fry Recipes
Shrimp & Okra Gumbo
A true Creole Dish.
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. fresh peeled shrimp
2 cups fresh diced okra
2 Tbsp. oil
1 stick margarine
4 Tbsp. flour
Louisiana Fish Fry Cajun Seasoning to taste
1 bell pepper chopped
2 sticks celery
2 cloves garlic
1 Tbsp. Worecestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. chopped green onions
1 onion
Louisiana Fish Fry Gumbo File
DIRECTIONS:
Fry okra in 2 tbsp. oil for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove okra from pot and set aside.
Add margarine and flour to make a roux in the same pot.
Add vegetables and okra and cook 5 minutes until wilted.
Add 3qts water and Worecestershire sauce and cook 1 to 2 hours.
Add shrimp and cook 30 minutes .
Add cajun seasoning to taste.
Serve with boiled rice and garnish with green onions and a sprinkling of gumbo file.
